One of the biggest challenges facing SACCOs today is climate change. ACCOSCA believes that the Co-operative movement in Africa can signi๏ฌcantly contribute to Sustainable Development Goal NO.13 Climate Action.
Therefore, it began building a framework for the African Co-operative Climate Action Plan in partnership with Dรฉveloppement international Desjardins – DID and integrating climate protection measures into its policies, business practices, and training.
During the 2023 SACCA Congress in Botswana, ACCOSCA hosted Lisa Baillargeon, Director at Dรฉveloppement international Desjardins – DID from Canada, for the Africa Co-operatives Climate Action Plan Launch. The African Co-operative Climate Action Plan, will now guide ACCOSCA and its member states better to promote the preservation and conservation of the environment, increase their resilience, adaptation, and mitigation to climate change, and promote the transition to a green and circular economy.
