Mombasa Port Sacco crowned for excellence

Mombasa Port Sacco (MPS) was once again crowned for excellence in governance during the 2022 edition of the Champions of Governance (COG) awards.

The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) licensed Deposit-Taking Sacco took home the Most Consistent Organization award for exhibiting the highest standards of good governance practice. This is in line with its mission of strengthening the socioeconomic well-being of our customers through prudent management and innovative products and services and its vision of being a global financial institution providing competitive financial solutions to its customers both in Kenya and beyond its borders.

Guided by excellent customer care services, creativity and innovation, integrity and transparency, corporate social responsibility, and teamwork core values, MPS remains a pillar of good corporate governance.

The COG award, which aims at promoting practices in good governance, was a recognition of the Sacco’s practice and application of good governance in all its operations, particularly in service delivery. It was also MPS’s recognition of innovations to support and enhance good governance.

MPS leadership and management team embed good governance practices that have transformed the financial institution elevating it to a premier centre of excellence in governance promotion and seamless service delivery in the country.

A top-ranking Sacco by all standards, Mombasa Port Sacco was recently named the country’s best in Capitalization Deposit-Taking Sacco during the national Ushirika Day celebration. The recognition and award during the co-operative fete highlight its rising star in the banking sector.

It was voted best in Capitalization DT-Sacco countywide and among the Tier 1 employer Based Sacco category. 

MPS’s innovative service delivery anchored on sound governance tenets has enabled its dominance in the co-operative movement while remaining a Sacco of choice to many. 

In addition, during the Mombasa Agricultural Show, the Sacco got more awards and recognition, including the Best Cooperative Movement and Sacco Stand, The stand that best interprets the current show theme and chairman’s Trophy, among others.

With a reputation for offering quality financial services, MPS has also cared for communities, significantly helping transform livelihoods. The well-being of communities within the areas it operates is a key concern to the Sacco.

Through deliberate efforts spearheaded by the Society’s Board of Directors and Management team, it has expanded and scaled up its Corporate Social Responsibility activities, leaving an indelible mark in the education sector and environment conservation, particularly in the provision of clean water and sanitation.
