Together We Prosper
Ollin Sacco has opened doors of opportunities for Kilgoris residents seeking financial growth and empowerment. Renowned for its innovative approach to banking, Ollin Sacco recently expanded its reach nationally by launching its 12th branch in Kilgoris Town, with a promise to transform the financial landscape for residents. This ultra-modern facility, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a welcoming ambience, invites locals to experience a new standard of banking excellence.
Ollin Sacco’s commitment to fostering prosperity has consistently set it apart as a leading financial institution. As it opens its doors in Kilgoris, it aims to provide top-tier banking services.
With a focus on inclusivity, Ollin Sacco embodies a philosophy where every individual, regardless of their background, can access the financial support they need to thrive. Kilgoris branch aims to empower residents, ensuring that financial stability and prosperity are accessible to everyone. The branch is set to offer members unique and exciting tailor-made products and services.
Narok County Deputy Governor Tamalinye K. Koech, who presided over the launch, lauded the Sacco for its excellence and its open bond policy, which allows people from all walks of life to access quality financial services.
“We are ready to collaborate with Ollin Sacco and other institutions to improve the lives of our people. We encourage Ollin Sacco to transform lives not only through banking services but also through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs,” said Hon. Koech.
Mr Cyrus Kabute, the Sacco Board of Directors Chairman, affirmed that Ollin Sacco is committed to walking the journey toward prosperity with residents of Kilgoris municipality and beyond.
“We are here to change lives. Our main goal is to encourage as many people as possible to save and invest, as well as to support them with accessible, reliable, and affordable credit facilities,” said Mr Kabute.
The journey of Ollin Sacco to open its Kilgoris branch began in June 2022 when it sponsored a forum for early childhood teachers, where 21 members opened accounts. The Sacco management identified an opportunity to reduce the financial inclusion gap in the area and conducted a feasibility study in early 2023. The study revealed that establishing an office in Kilgoris was viable and aligned with the Sacco’s mission of providing affordable financial services that empower members both socially and economically.
Subsequently, the Sacco held several training, education, and member information forums, leading to continued membership growth. The Kilgoris branch officially commenced operations in August this year, and since then, over 500 new members have joined.
50 Years of Excellence
The success in Kilgoris mirrors the Sacco’s impressive journey since its founding in 1974. Established more than 49 years ago by 163 teachers, the Sacco is set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in June next year.
With the name “Ollin,” which means “All In,” the Sacco continues to attract individuals from all walks of life, and its active membership now exceeds 42,000 members.
According to the latest Sacco Supervision Annual Report for 2024, released by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), Ollin Sacco is one of the best-performing Tier 1 deposit-taking Saccos. Its asset base is projected to reach Ksh 15 billion by the end of this year.
Ollin Sacco has also been a pioneer in the cooperative movement, being the first to introduce FOSA banking in Kenya and Africa in 1995.
“Innovation and creativity define who we are. Our foremost vision is to empower our members socially and economically. We are driven by well-grounded core values that include creativity, professionalism, and teamwork. We operate under the motto ‘Together We Prosper,’ said CPA John Gathige, the Sacco CEO.
He considers the Kilgoris branch a dream come true for the Sacco. This new branch marks another important milestone in the Sacco’s expansion drive, which is based on its strategic plan for 2021-2025period that focuses on five key themes: financial management, digital and operational efficiency, customer centricity, leadership and governance, and human resource management.

“We leverage technology to serve our members through robust digital platforms. This includes our own Ollin Cash app, Visa-branded Sacco ATMs, and the mobile banking USSD code *645#, which provides greater convenience,” said CPA Gathige.
The CEO attributed the Sacco’s success to its leadership’s deliberate commitment to staying focused on their vision while remaining agile in strategy to adapt to the ever-changing environment. “Our directors and management team have mastered the art of keeping our eyes on the stars while keeping our feet on the ground,” he stated.
With pragmatic leadership and a strong governance structure, Ollin Sacco has adopted a member-centric approach, emphasizing the transformation of members’ lives.
“We continuously leverage technological innovations and automation, regularly review our business model, and embrace organizational agility and change management, effective financial management and marketing intelligence gathering. Ollin Sacco has changed lives.
From a young girl who every time she receives a gift of Ksh10, her Ollin Sacco Junior Account comes to mind, to a man somewhere in the plains of Transmara with a big ambition of growing his agribusiness. Ollin Sacco does not just offer banking services; it has created a community of forward-thinkers with ambitions and the will to achieve them.
CPA Gathige noted that the new branch will be a game-changer in Kilgoris and the surrounding areas.
“We are offering investment opportunities. Our dividends are quite high at 17.5%. We were ranked in position 10 last year in terms of the best Saccos paying dividends,” he said.
Area residents will also benefit from tailor-made, affordable loan products, group savings accounts, financial literacy programs, an education fund for children, a welfare fund, and pay points for salaries and businesses, including agribusiness.
“When you join Ollin, you become the owner of the Sacco. It doesn’t matter whether somebody came in 1976. All have equal rights,” added Mr Gathige.
The Sacco is looking to attract teachers, civil servants, county government employees, private institution staff, business people, agribusiness professionals, sugar farmers, churches, and micro, small, and medium enterprises in the area.
The Future
Ollin Sacco is targeting to hit an asset base of Ksh 30 billion, an annual revenue of Ksh 4 billion, increase its physical branches to 22, and reach a membership of over 100,000 by the year 2030.
“We are creating our future. If it is thinkable, then it is doable. I urge all to be our good ambassadors. By adopting our Ollin concept of telling a customer to tell a person to tell a person,” said Mr Gathige. “Our mission is not just to do business but to empower our members socio-economically.”
“We are here to change lives. Our main goal is to encourage as many people as possible to save and invest, as well as to support them with accessible, reliable, and affordable credit facilities.” ~ Mr Cyrus Kabute, Chairman.
