Bandari Sacco has launched a tree planting exercise in the coastal region.
The Sacco is keen to increase forest cover in the area under its environment protection campaign that was recently commissioned by Mombasa Environment CEC Dr Godfrey Nato, County Director of Co-operatives Mr Nelson Nyoro, and Sacco CEO Mr Joseph Bee.
“Our goal is to increase the tree cover in the region and contribute the desired national goal of 10 percent forest cover,” said Bee.
Bandari is among the leading deposit taking Saccos and one of the biggest in the coastal region. It is ranked among the top 10 richest Saccos in the country by Sasra.
The Sacco has been on a steady growth over the last 45 years and prides itself for winning various awards including consistently paying some of the highest interest on deposit and dividends over the years.
It paid one of the highest dividends and rebates for the financial year 2020 of 22 percent and 12.15 percent respectively.
