A Committee of Experts appointed by the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs Development visited the Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) offices in a step towards enhancing the operational efficiency of the Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs).
During the visit, the committee engaged in discussions focused on the review of the SACCO Societies Act of 2008. Key topics included the proposed establishment of a Central Liquidity Facility, a SACCO Deposit Guarantee Fund and importance of developing a shared services legal framework to further bolster the SACCO sector’s effectiveness.
