The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Deputy Secretary General Mr. Benson Okwaro has lauded Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (Saccos) for taking their services closer to members.
“This is a clear indication that Saccos are ready to compete in the financial sector and offer the most convenient services,” Mr. Okwaro told Co-op News in his office.
He urged Kenyans mostly the youth to join different Saccos to access loans and establish a savings culture. He Saccos are also creating job opportunities for many.
Currently they are over 14,000 registered cooperative societies in Kenya, 5,000 being Saccos.
