Dimkes Sacco has stepped up its use of technology in serving its members besides enhancing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
An innovative Sacco, Dimkes launched a mobile banking platform dubbed M-Chipuka, which is now accessible to all members. Within the platform, members can borrow up to Sh30,000- Chipuka loan, by using USSD *850# or M-Chipuka App. Besides the mobile banking platform enables members to conveniently deposit, withdraw, pay loans, buy airtime, buy shares and transfer funds.
“There is no doubt that the use of Mobile loans will greatly enhance the deepening of Dimkes Sacco financial services to its members,” said the Sacco Board of Directors chairperson Caroline Gikonyo.
These include a drive to bolster mobile loans uptake by enabling members to apply for short term loan facilities at the comfort of their mobile phones.
“The Sacco is also keen on social media and digital marketing as the best and cost-effective avenue to reach out to new markets,” said Gikonyo
As part of its Cooperate Social Responsibility, the Society has continued with the distribution of foodstuffs – lending a helping hand to hundreds of suffering during this COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Gikonyo, the growth strategy will have a bias on the use of information and communication technology (ICT).
Another measure is an improvement in loan portfolio quality through strategic recovery; so far, the Sacco has made a notable achievement in reducing non-performing loans.
The Sacco also plans to better customer services and customer experience by investing in research and development to create new products and services besides improving on existing products and services.
Overall, the Society has scored high in maintaining Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) prudential guidelines hence securing members’ deposits.
Under the FOSA section members have been provided with personalized cheque books. The Sacco has already installed a cheque truncation system to shorten the cheque clearing time.
Last year, the Sacco also invested heavily in improving the capacity and the speed of our systems as well as enhancing processes and procedures which has led to enhanced internal controls and better service delivery across all its branches.
Dimkes Sacco impressive performance in all parameters saw it recognized during 2019 Ushirika Day celebrations emerging the best Sacco in branch network in Kiambu County. It also feted in CIO 100 Annual Symposiums and Awards for its IVORY MARK in Excellence Enterprise Information Technology Adoption.
