The Imarika Foundation announced that it will be helping more young people through its Youth Empowerment Program. This commitment was highlighted during the recent Wezesha Vijana Walkathon event held in Kilifi town. The foundation’s chairperson, J. Jumbe, said that they plan to sponsor 50 young people using the funds raised from this event.
“As we look ahead to 2025, with the resources raised through this event, we plan to sponsor an additional 50 young beneficiaries. This ambitious target is only possible because of your unwavering support. Together, we are creating a legacy of hope, resilience, and success for our youth,” Jumbe said.
The program has supported 75 out-of-school youths from various villages within Kilifi County for the past three years. These young people are trained in technical skills like carpentry, electrical wiring, ICT, tailoring and hairdressing. According to the chairperson, 70% of the trained young men and ladies have transitioned to the job market as employees or have established their small businesses.
“This is no small feat. The ripple effects of this success are felt not only by the beneficiaries but also by their families and communities. These empowered young men and women are now contributors to the local economy, role models for their peers, and catalysts for change in their neighbourhoods,” said Mr John Ziro, Imarika Sacco’s Chairman.
Mr Ziro noted that there is a high demand for training programs among the youth while sponsorship capabilities are very low.
“Every step we take today and every contribution made will go toward extending this program to more deserving youth, giving them a chance to dream and thrive,” adding that every contribution is crucial as more youths are waiting to unlock their potential.
