Kenya National Police DT Sacco has continued to support the education sector through elaborate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
Speaking recently during the commissioning and handing over a block of nine classrooms and Computer Laboratory at Utumishi Girls Academy-Gilgil, the Sacco National Chairman David Sohelo Mategwa said they would continue empowering society for prosperity.
The Sacco played a significant role in establishing the premier girls’ school that is expected to shine academically, just like Utumish Boys Academy.
Mr Mategwa, who was accompanied by Vice-chairman David Kangogo, Board of Directors, and Senior Management team, noted that the Sacco is deeply concerned with community welfare. For over 50 years, he noted that Kenya National Police DT Sacco has been empowering members, including sponsoring needy and bright students to achieve their education dreams to the highest level.
Utumshi Girls Academy, a school located in the beautiful Gilgil hilly landscape about three kilometers off-Gilgil-Nyahururu road, is the epitome of excellence thanks to modern structures put up by the Sacco.
Like the boys’ Academy, which year after year it has continued to post exemplary results, the girls’ school is expected to be a centre of excellence in academic and co-curricular activities. Green manicured lawns, trees, and flowers complimented with modern buildings make the school contrast to its location, which is dry owing to drought.
Utumishi Academy, which the Kenya National Police DT Sacco broadly supports, has defied odds. Its achievements in refining young minds to produce the best out of them. The majority of the school’s students are from public primary schools, but despite their modest Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) marks, the school posts sterling Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Its history is rich with successes and stands tall among the best schools in Kenya. Kenya National Police DT Sacco recently donated to laptops to the Academy that will go a long way in promoting quality education in a world moved by technology.
Under its Corporate Social Investment programmes, Kenya National Police DT Sacco has continually supported bright and needy children of deceased former members’ access to education up to the university level.
“Our goal is to empower our members for prosperity, change community welfare by offering services and products that address challenges,” said Mr Mategwa. In line with the education and training pillar, the Sacco recently conducted a series of training forums across all its branches countrywide.

The Sacco also conducted regional Top Savers Seminars under the theme “accelerate your savings and build wealth.”
With over 1,000 millionaire members, Kenya National Police DT Sacco is betting on increased financial and investments training for its members and using them as ambassadors in a recruitment drive to net at least 7 000 new members by June next year, when it will celebrate its Golden Jubilee.
“The Sacco will use the top 100 members as ambassadors to recruit new members in their respective regions,” said Mr Mategwa. Recently the Sacco got high score GCR ratings, with its national scale issuer ranking upgraded to BBB+(KE) /A2(KE) from BBB(KE) /A3(KE), with a positive outlook.
