Standard-Bearer of Excellence
Kenya National Police DT SACCO has hit the ground running in 2026, solidifying its position as the country’s most decorated financial cooperative. Following a stellar 2025 performance, the SACCO kicked off the new year with a high-profile Annual Delegates Congress (ADC) in Mombasa, signaling a year of sustained growth, rigorous governance, and enhanced member value.
The Congress, themed “Empowering Leaders through Teamwork and Co-operative Excellence,” served as a victory lap for a SACCO that has become a benchmark for the movement. Addressing the delegates, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs, Hon. Wycliffe A. Oparanya, EGH, lauded the institution as a trailblazer.
“The SACCO leadership has ensured this institution is well-run to meet members’ financial needs,” Hon. Oparanya noted. “The government is committed to ensuring there is good governance within the movement, and Kenya National Police DT SACCO is leading by example.”
A Legacy of Performance
The SACCO’s reputation is backed by formidable data and thousands of members success stories. According to the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), it currently ranks as the third-largest financial cooperative in Kenya by total assets. Beyond size, it remains a favourite among members for its excellence in service delivery, high annual returns on savings and its commitment to providing affordable credit.
In 2025, the SACCO’s trophy cabinet grew significantly, scooping top accolades including the Best Managed SACCO trophy. This excellence has made it a benchmark centre.
The SACCO has received plaudits from the State Department of Cooperative Development Principal Secretary, Hon. Patrick Kilemi, who praised the SACCO for its ISO 9001:2015 recertification and its impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
“This is what responsible leadership in the cooperative sector looks like,” PS Kilemi said, noting the SACCO’s ranking as the second-best managed SACCO in the country for the previous year.
Investing in Human Capital
Central to the SACCO’s success is a deep-seated belief in continuous learning particularly member education and training. Already in January this year, 60 SACCO delegates have graduated from an intensive program in SACCO Philosophy and Financial Literacy conducted by the ACCOSCA Academy.
The program, which was also attended by the full Board of Directors, focused on the unique cooperative business model and financial stewardship. ACCOSCA Executive Director, George Ombado, commended the cohort’s discipline, urging them to act as ambassadors of the cooperative values.
The SACCO National Chairman Mr. David Mategwa, OGW, echoed these sentiments, urging the graduates to translate their classroom knowledge into tangible impact.
“In 2025, we maintained a high growth momentum which we hope to sustain this year. We must translate knowledge into impact to make a difference in our members’ lives,” Mr. Mategwa said.
The Road Ahead
As the SACCO prepares for its upcoming Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM), the air is thick with anticipation. Members are looking forward to another year of attractive dividends and interest on deposits—a hallmark of the SACCO’s “Member-Centric” philosophy.
The institution CEO Solomon Atsiaya, MBS, noted that the SACCO’s stability and public confidence are no accidents. “We will continue to strengthen leadership, accountability, and shared growth,” he said, pointing to the SACCO’s core values of integrity, innovation, and teamwork.
For members, the SACCO offers a blend of excellent financial services and products well-customized to the needs of all. These include instant M-Tawi FOSA loans, low interest rates, and property acquisition through its Investment Co-operative.
Kenya National Police DT SACCO is setting the bar high for the cooperative sector. With a clear vision for a sustainable future and a member-centricity mentality, the SACCO remains a beacon of hope and a powerhouse of economic transformation for its thousands of members across the nation.
A thriving and sustainable future.
