KUSCCO has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing taxation reforms for SACCOs following the first National Taxation Dialogue held on 18–19 September 2025 in Nairobi. In a formal statement signed by Group Managing Director Arnold Munene, the union thanked participants for their engagement and outlined next steps aimed at influencing fiscal policy.
A key outcome of the dialogue is the preparation of a memorandum to the National Treasury, capturing sector-wide recommendations. KUSCCO intends to submit this during the national budget cycle, advocating for more predictable and supportive taxation frameworks.
The organization emphasized its role in coordinating Sacco voices and working with regulators to promote compliance, inclusion, and sustainable growth. It also committed to sharing the dialogue’s outcomes and implementation timelines through official channels.
This marks a measured but strategic effort to align Sacco operations with national fiscal planning. While no immediate policy changes were announced, stakeholders view the initiative as a constructive move toward long-term sector resilience.
KUSCCO’s continued engagement with policymakers and regulators will be key in shaping future reforms. Updates on the memorandum and related advocacy efforts are expected in the coming months.
