The United Nations declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, with the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better Future.” The African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) has been granted the rights and privileges to emphasize the essential role of cooperatives in Africa in promoting sustainable development goals (SDGs).
In the first week of 2025, ACCOSCA will hold a training session on SACCO Philosophy and Education aimed at benefiting cooperators across Africa. This training is designed to enhance the quality of leadership and management decisions within African Credit Unions. ACCOSCA, through its leadership, remains dedicated to fostering financial sustainability across the continent.
“ACCOSCA is poised to showcase the transformative power of cooperatives in Africa, contributing to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development,” stated an ACCOSCA representative.
In preparation for the World Credit Union Conference, which will occur from July 14th to 20th, 2025, ACCOSCA has organized a series of meetings throughout all World Credit Union member states in Africa. The conference will include two major events held in three different countries in Europe.
The opening event, titled the “2025 World Credit Union Conference,” will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from July 14th to 16th. The second part of the conference, themed “Learn and Share Initiatives,” will occur from July 17th to 20th at two different venues. After the initial three-day summit in Sweden, participants will have the option to attend the “Learn and Share Initiatives” in either Vilnius, Lithuania, or Berlin, Germany. Registration for those wishing to attend is currently ongoing.
