The Best Performing Kilifi County Cooperatives

Cooperatives in Kilifi County have once again showcased resilience, innovation, and excellent governance during this year’s Ushirika Day Celebrations, where top-performing Saccos and cooperatives were recognized. The event highlighted achievements in areas ranging from digital transformation to community impact, with Imarika DT Sacco and Kutafiti Regulated NWDT Sacco emerging as leading cooperatives.

In the fiercely competitive Tier 1 category, Imarika DT Sacco secured the top position with an impressive score of 137 points, followed by Lengo DT Sacco with 105 points, highlighting their financial strength and member satisfaction. In Tier 2, Kutafiti Regulated NWDT Sacco dominated with 112.5 points, thanks to its strong governance and commitment to member value creation.

Imarika DT Sacco, Lengo DT Sacco, and Kutafiti Regulated NWDT Sacco were recognized for their excellence in Information Technology, which has streamlined service delivery to their members.

Investing in technology is essential for Saccos, as digital tools are transforming access to savings and loans. This investment is crucial for Saccos’ future growth.

Kutafiti NWDT Sacco also stood out for its good governance and loan management practices, demonstrating that transparency and effective financial management drive success.

Under the Women-led initiatives category, Muungano Caris Sacco and Bariki Women Sacco received recognition for empowering women entrepreneurs.

Imarika DT Sacco and Lengo DT Sacco were awarded for their commitment to the community, illustrating that financial growth and social responsibility can go hand in hand.

Driftwood Sacco members enjoyed the highest return on deposit rebates at 15%, while Mawasco Sacco led in share capital dividend returns at 21.9%. Both Saccos were recognised for their outstanding financial performance and member rewards.

Kutafiti NWDT Sacco received the award for the highest average savings per member.

In the housing and marketing cooperatives category, Jumuika Housing Co-operative took top honours, followed by Malindi Handicraft Co-operative.

Munyu Sacco and Kyawango Housing Co-operative were also honoured with trophies for being the most improved cooperative societies.
