“I’ve been part of the Sacco since 2012,” Ombacho proudly declares, reflecting on the pivotal role it has played in his life’s trajectory, transforming it from struggle to success. “Before joining the Sacco, I barely earned enough using a bicycle for my daily business.”
Ombacho’s story mirrors that of many others, highlighting the potential for growth and stability through Sacco membership. Through disciplined saving and access to loans, his life took a significant turn for the better.
“After saving for two years, I was granted a loan of Ksh80,000, which was the beginning of my success story,” he recalls.
With this financial assistance, he purchased a brand-new motorbike, boosting his daily earnings and opening doors to new opportunities. “Now, I can earn over Ksh2000 daily, thanks to the Sacco loan,” he notes, highlighting the substantial increase from his previous earnings of Ksh300.
Ombacho’s transformation extends beyond his personal achievements. “I now have my own farm, cows, chickens, and other assets,” he reveals. “Being able to provide for my family fills me with pride and joy seeing my children go to school without any problems.”
Looking ahead, Ombacho harbors ambitious plans for the future. “In the next five years, I aim to become the owner of a vehicle, which I will use as a taxi to earn more money,” he states. With hard work, determination, and continued support from the Sacco, he is confident in his ability to achieve this goal and further improve his standard of living.

However, Ombacho expresses concern over the lack of youth involvement in Saccos. “It’s saddening to see that most cooperative societies are dominated by older members,” he laments. He calls for innovative approaches to attract younger individuals to Saccos, emphasizing the benefits of financial inclusion and collective prosperity.
