FSD Kenya and SASRA seek a consultant for a 3-year strategy at SACCO Central.
To kick start the acquisition of the SACCO Shared Technology platform, SASRA has commenced the process of bringing onboard a Project Manager to support the SACCO Central. The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the implementation process including review and update of the technical, functional and security requirements.
Following the recommendations made in the SACCO Shared services study, SASRA invited SACCOs to express interest in participating in discussing and shaping the concept of shared services in the SACCO industry.
A total of 55 SACCOs responded and the same were constituted into a project governance structure comprising two technical working groups and a steering committee to spearhead the Shared Services project.
The participating SACCOs aware of obtaining policy and legal framework, resolved to form a Secondary Cooperative known as the SACCO Central (similar to SASO), which will be a legal enterprise to provide a collective pool of shared services to member SACCOs in accordance with the policy and legal framework. The SACCO Central was registered as a Secondary Co-operative in June 2022 and was inaugurated on April 15, 2023
The SACCO central has begun the process of acquisition and implementation of the Shared Technology platform. The acquisition and implementation of the platform will be supported by SASRA.
