The Best: Kenya National Police DT SACCO Wins the Best Performing Award for Excellence

The Kenya National Police DT SACCO has solidified its reputation as one of the country’s premier and best-managed financial co-operatives.

The country’s third-largest Deposit-Taking SACCO has once again been recognized for excellence, winning the national Best Managed Sacco Award after emerging in second position during the recent Ushirika Day celebrations.

At the colourful 103rd International Co-operatives Day Celebrations held at KICC, the SACCO was awarded the trophy for the second-best-performing DT SACCO, both nationally and among employer-based SACCOs. The prestigious award was presented by Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, who was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya, CS for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage Hanna Cheptumo, and PS State Department of Co-operatives Patrick Kilemi.

The SACCO officials, led by Director Elizabeth Nyagah, General Manager ICT and Business Innovations Frank Tirimba, and Marketing Manager Ann Njuguna, received the trophies and certificates amidst a jubilant celebration.

The Kenya National Police DT SACCO has distinguished itself in the flourishing co-operative sector, establishing a benchmark for excellence. The dedication of its leadership and management to exceptional service and co-operative values has been a driving force behind its remarkable success.

During the Ushirika Adjudication Dinner and Award Ceremony at KICC, the Kenya National Police DT SACCO also took home three additional awards: Best DT SACCO in Capitalization – Position 2, Best DT SACCO in Credit Management – Position 2, and Best DT SACCO in Deposit Management – Position 2.

These accolades highlight the SACCO’s commitment to enhancing members’ livelihoods and fostering resilient communities, all while upholding financial strength, sound management, and exceptional service.

The SACCO has demonstrated excellence in service delivery and innovation, consistently providing products and services that promote inclusion and sustainable growth. As a result, it has won numerous national awards. In both 2023 and 2024, the SACCO was recognized as the best-managed SACCO in the country. It also received the top award for the SACCO subsector at the prestigious FiRe Awards and was honored with the CIO Gold award in 2023.

As one of the most decorated Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies in the nation, the SACCO consistently sets new standards by offering affordable loans and attractive dividends to its members. Through prudent management, effective savings mobilization, and the provision of accessible credit, the SACCO has achieved outstanding growth and financial performance, solidifying its reputation as a leader in financial services and enhancing financial inclusion.

Members of the Kenya National Police Deposit Taking SACCO enjoy high annual returns on their investments. Earlier this year, the SACCO announced a remarkable dividend distribution totaling Ksh 3.9 billion for the fiscal year 2024, a 9% increase from the previous year. This amount included Ksh 624.2 million paid in dividends on share capital at a rate of 17% and Ksh 3.3 billion in interest on members’ deposits at a rate of 11%.

The Co-operative Society has maintained its appeal and profitability by offering attractive returns to its members, affordable loan products with interest rates as low as 1%, quick loan processing, and instant mobile loans. According to the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), the SACCO’s total assets stood at Ksh 59.8 billion as of December 31, 2024.
