Kenya Railways Adds Extra SGR Train for Festive Season
Kenya Railways has introduced an additional Madaraka Express passenger train on the Nairobi–Mombasa route to manage increased travel demand during the festive season.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, December 2, the corporation announced that the extra service will operate from Monday, December 8, 2025, to Monday, January 5, 2026.
According to the schedule, the additional train will depart Nairobi at 9:40am, stop in Voi at 1:35pm, and arrive in Mombasa at 3:55pm.
For the return trip, the train will leave Mombasa at 4:30pm, make a stop in Voi at 6:15pm, and reach Nairobi at 10:55pm.
Kenya Railways said the temporary service aims to accommodate the surge in passengers travelling during the holiday period.
