Fresh disputes have emerged at Katelembo Athiani Muputi Farming and Ranching Co-operative Society after members voted out the current management committee during a special general meeting held in Machakos County.
In a report published by a local daily members passed a vote of no confidence against the officials and barred them from accessing the society’s offices as preparations begin for fresh elections.
The supervisory committee, led by Secretary Janet Nzilani, also resolved to freeze the Sacco’s bank accounts until a new management team is elected. Members further suspended the issuance of title deeds and halted all office transactions pending the installation of new leadership.
The move followed accusations that the outgoing management altered the society’s logo without consulting members, among other grievances.
Notably, none of the affected officials attended the meeting.
The latest developments come just days after angry members reportedly stormed the offices, evicted the manager, service provider and clerk, and secured the premises with new padlocks.
During the meeting, members also selected a six-member team to engage cooperative authorities and oversee arrangements for another special general meeting aimed at electing a new management committee.
