In what has now become a familiar rhythm of success, Bingwa Deposit-Taking Sacco once again dominated the national stage, sweeping seven prestigious trophies at this year’s National Ushirika Day Awards. In a stunning display of financial might and institutional stability, the Sacco once again asserted its dominance during the 2026 Ushirika gala dinner held at Safari Park Hotel and graced by Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya.
The ceremony brought together the titans of the cooperative movement. Yet, as the names were read and the applause echoed, one name resonated with remarkable frequency: Bingwa. This was a validation of the Sacco’s sustained culture of excellence, transparency, and member-centric innovation.
“We don’t just set out to win awards. We set out to serve our members. These trophies are simply the footprints left behind by a giant moving in the right direction,” said a Sacco representative.
The Sacco was crowned best in the agriculture-based category, bagging first position for Best Performing DT Sacco, 2nd Best DT Sacco in Capitalization, 2nd Best DT Sacco in Credit Management, and 2nd Most Efficient DT Sacco. It also emerged 2nd Best DT Sacco in Risk Management, Technology Optimization, and Most Improved DT Sacco.
At the Kirinyaga County Ushirika Day celebrations, Bingwa’s commitment to rewarding its members remained unmatched, winning the trophy for Highest Interest on Deposits and placing third for Highest Dividend Rates.
At the 2025 Ushirika Day Awards, the Sacco also excelled, bagging six national accolades and setting a benchmark for agriculture-based cooperative societies.
Its outstanding performance is backed by stellar financial growth. Under the leadership of the Board, the Sacco’s total assets, member deposits, and loan portfolio have continued to grow exponentially.
The Sacco’s top priority is helping members transform their lives, no matter how big or small their ambitions; it ensures it walks the journey with them.
Central to this success is the “Bingwa Sacco Agency Mashinani,” a localized banking model that has bridged the gap for underserved rural communities. By taking services like withdrawals, deposits, and loan applications to the neighborhood level, Bingwa has turned financial inclusion into a reality.
The Sacco is not resting on its laurels. With a new five-year strategic plan (2026–2030), Bingwa aims for 20% annual growth in deposits and loans, alongside expansion into strategic towns nationwide.
CEO CPA Elizabeth Warui emphasizes that the institution’s core philosophy remains “Best Customer Care.” “We treat our customers with respect because that is what they deserve,” she says. “Our commitment goes beyond profit; it is rooted in creating community value and upholding the highest standards of corporate governance.”
As Bingwa DT Sacco celebrates these historic wins, the message to current and potential members is: your investment is in the hands of a national champion. With 20 branches, hundreds of agents, and an attractive return on deposits, Bingwa remains the ultimate partner for sustainable economic and social growth.
Congratulations to all members for making Bingwa DT Sacco a true national icon!
