Ng’arisha DT Sacco has once again stamped its authority as one of Kenya’s most promising medium-sized deposit-taking Saccos after winning four national awards at the 2026 Ushirika Day celebrations.
The Sacco emerged among the top performers during the gala dinner held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, an event graced by Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya. The 104th International Day of Cooperatives was marked under the theme “Cooperatives for a Peaceful World”, a fitting backdrop for a Sacco whose growth story is rooted in trust, shared prosperity and community empowerment.
Ng’arisha DT Sacco was feted as the 2nd Best DT Sacco in Credit Management under the Employer-Based Saccos category with total assets of between Ksh 2 billion and Ksh 5 billion. It also took home the award for 2nd Most Improved DT Sacco in the same category.
The Sacco further clinched 3rd Best DT Sacco in Capitalization and 3rd Best DT Sacco in Risk Management, confirming its strong performance not just in growth, but also in governance, stability and prudent financial management.
For an institution that began in 1978 as a teachers’ Sacco in Bungoma, the recognition is more than a trophy moment. It is a powerful statement of resilience, innovation and disciplined leadership.
According to SASRA data, Ng’arisha Sacco had an asset base of over Ksh 4.38 billion in 2024, ranking it among the leading medium-sized deposit-taking Saccos by total assets. That growth has been driven by consistent savings mobilization, responsible lending, strong member relationships and an expanding branch network.
Board Chairman Mr Benedict Simiyu attributed the Sacco’s impressive performance to resilience, innovation and a firm commitment to quality customer service.
“Our aim is to ensure the Sacco maintains a high growth rate while adequately meeting the members’ demands. We will continue bettering our customer service and relations with stakeholders,” said Mr Simiyu.
Chief Executive Officer Mr Wamukota Markline said the awards were a strong endorsement of the Sacco’s strategic direction and a motivation to do even better.
“We were awarded the Best in Credit Management DT Sacco Position Two trophy and recognised among the most improved DT Saccos. We will continue doing our best to take this Sacco to the next high level. Our main goal is to grow membership for sustainability,” said Mr Wamukota.
The wins come at a time when Ng’arisha Sacco is deepening its efforts to recruit more members through brand ambassadors, a strategy aimed at strengthening liquidity, growing the loan book and widening access to financial services.
