Observe integrity, co-op officials told

Kakamega County celebrated this year’s world co-operative day with speakers making a passionate call to the Sacco management to focus on improving members’ lives.

Speaking during the occasion, Rachael Okumu underscored the need of the Sacco management to invest in their personnel to have managers who are efficient and effective in serving members.

“Members expect quality services and reap the maximum return from their investment,” she said.

She stressed the need for co-operative managers to maintain the integrity and ensure they have proper record management to keep track of performance. She noted that the main issues that bring down co-operative societies are lack of integrity, selfishness, and bad politics.

She was representing Governor Wycliffe Oparanya during this year’s Ushirika Day.

She urged Saccos to attract youth by being innovative and embracing the modern way of banking. She said the county had allocated Ksh20 million revolving funds to uplift rural societies.
