African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) Executive Director George Ombado was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Proxfin International Network; a network of Desjardins International Development (DID) whose headquarters are based in Canada, for two years.
Proxfin is an international network of 30 community financing institutions in 22 countries that have partnered with Développement international Desjardins – DID to provide better access to financial services for more than 9 million families and entrepreneurs.
With headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, ACCOSCA is a Non-Governmental, Pan African confederation of national associations of savings and credit cooperatives societies. ACCOSCA opened its doors in1968 and is incorporated and registered under the Societies Act
ACCOSCA is currently engaging in various activities to empower members, including annual training of Sacco Leaders, Youth for Cooperatives and the Savings and credit cooperatives in Africa.
ACCOSCA has membership in 28 countries in Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Seychelles, Mauritius, Nigeria, The Gambia, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Congo, Democratic Republic Congo, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, and Botswana).
