Kenya has cemented its dominance in Africa’s cooperative sector with the unanimous election of Macloud Malonza as Chairperson of the International Cooperative Alliance – Africa (ICA-Africa).
Malonza, a veteran cooperative leader, secured all 65 votes cast by delegates from across the continent at the ICA-Africa Regional Assembly. He defeated two Nigerian contenders, Lawrence Bale and Ojo Oladayo Aindehinde.
Malonza serves as Chairman of the Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK), Co-operative Bank Holdings (Co-op Holdings), and Harambee DT SACCO
Kenya’s cooperative movement boasts over 22,000 societies and more than 15 million members.
